Patrick often asks me when I pause and stare at whatever game he has on TV if I'm watching or thinking. I'm always thinking. I don't know about you, but tomorrow starts the second month of the year and I'm still very much trying to find my 2014 stride. Does that make any sense? Lots on my mind these days! This weekend I'm doing a little wedding planning, tackling random errands & commissioned work, getting organized for tax season (funnn), and taking a Skillshare online callligraphy class. I'm actually taking an in-person 3 hour calligraphy course one night next week to learn some new techniques with gouache so I can maybe offer custom colors eventually :)
It's been an exciting week at the letterpress studio for wedding things! And I finally finished the entire series of Breaking Bad (SO. GOOD.) so now I'm in one of those terrible funks that happens when you finish a good book or TV series. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Nora Ephron.
“There is something called the rapture of the deep, and it refers to what happens when a deep-sea diver spends too much time at the bottom of the ocean and can't tell which way is up. When he surfaces, he's liable to have a condition called the bends, where the body can't adapt to the oxygen levels in the atmosphere. All of this happens to me when I surface from a great book.”
I'm going to try and take a break from shows and get through a couple books on my shelf, but I'd love to hear any series recommendations for when I'm ready to start something new! Anything I should check out?
So yes, I'll admit I couldn't care less about the Superbowl (I know, I knowww) ... but I'll watch (read: think) and maybe fix some treats :) Do you have fun plans for the weekend and game?
