My dear, dear friends got hitched on May 3rd! It was so much fun, and I wanted to share a few pictures and memories with you! The picture above ^^^ was taken the night before when we rehearsed the ceremony in a park in Greenpoint, staring at the breathtaking Manhattan skyline.
Afterwards, we went to this incredible nearby restaurant and got all giddy about the next day! ^^^ "It's your last night as a Miss!" I reminded her :)
The next morning, we (the bride, her mom, the bridesmaids & bridesman!) went to the cooooolest photo studio/loft in Brooklyn to get all dolled up. The owner rents out the space for things like commercial photo shoots so between that, talking to stylists about their celeb clients (you know my ears always perk up when celebs are mentioned!), and just spending the day together getting teary-eyed about our girl getting married, we felt so special. The bride gave us chic jewelry to pair with our outfits, and we surprised her with a honeymoon bag full of goodies!
Speaking of the bride...she was so flawless that you couldn't even look at her without crying! Her vintage-inspired dress was absolutely perfect, and I especially loved that she paired it with peep-toe spiked black suede shoes! The edginess paired with the softness of the dress? So badass...and so her! The color of our bridesmaids dresses was a really pretty and rich plum-purple.
The ceremony and reception took place at Brooklyn Winery -- hands down one of the neatest venues I've ever been to. The space, the staff, the food...it was all remarkable. The bride & groom aren't big fans of cake so what did they do? They had donuts instead. (Is that not the best?!) And let's back up a hot second to the ceremony. I remember thinking before walking down the aisle, I better wrap my bouquet with a tissue. Ya know, just in case. Um, good thing I did! I SOBBED and not in a cute way. I had a direct line of vision of the groom and seeing him so emotional (cutest thing ever) made it impossible not to lose it. The ceremony itself was so heartfelt and special...you could honestly feel the love in the air. My favorite reading was this quote from When Harry Met Sally.
I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I'm crying just thinking about it. Take a peek at some pictures while I collect myself :)
Look at my cute date ^^^ who wore purple, too! ;) Nine years ago that night after midnight (so technically May 4th), we met. It's been a long, crazy road and I'm beyond thankful to have this guy by my side.
Here I am at the end of the night with the newlyweds at the after-party! It's wild to think that it all started just like that -- the three of us at a Brooklyn bar. (Here's a picture from that preeminent New Year's Eve.) Adrienne encouraged us to go out, excited to be my "wing woman." Single at the time, I wanted to break out of my shell and talk to a boy...so I looked around the bar and pointed, "Him! He's tall and cute!" I awkwardly introduced myself and asked him a few questions and couldn't help but smile inside before telling him he had to meet my friend. My gut told me they were perfect for each other, and they are...overwhelmingly so...where your heart just bursts with happiness for them. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these two! I wish them so many blessings.
A huge congratulations to my amazing friends!
